Here I sit at my desk with a schwerma sandwich. It has been an interesting day here at the office. The riders have been calling. They are upset at the delay in the processing of their pledges. Who can blame them. We have been incredibly irresponsible, I think. But let's put this in some perspective.
This event is a challenge for all of us. Everyone in the company works long hours. Every participant sacrifices their time and resources. As much as we would like to think that the Production of these events is integral to their success, it is more appropriate to say that it takes a lot of work to get the logistics together and that the banners and music are great. People like pomp. But what makes this even is the Ride community itself. The Riders and Crew model altruism and compassion and kindness. Their love and their community is what is powerful. Yes, the funds raised is WHY we gather, but the fact that we do gather and that we do give so much of our time and our efforts is what makes the event beautiful.
The Spirit works in community. The Spirit comes when we come together. Peace.
